Do You Know What Time It Is?
October 19, 2011 at 09:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | Leave a commentThe other night, when we were getting ready for bed, I asked my girls, “Do you know what time it is?” I was just looking for “bedtime” as the answer, but Lori, my four year old, looked at me and said, “It’s thirteen hundred o’ clock”. It sounded like she was starting to get the concept and might be ready to learn how to tell time.
This Treat Shop Takes the Cake!
October 14, 2011 at 12:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Let's Play, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 4 CommentsThe ALEX Tasty Treat Shop is perfect for young and aspiring bakers! It folds up flat, but, when you open it up, it is a double-sided bakeshop! One side is the bakery, covered in bright graphics of pots and pans, mixers and ovens, while the other side is the storefront, decorated with yummy looking cakes, pies, cookies and treats! There are lots of colorful paper board ingredients and baked goodies included. You also get a plastic measuring cup and spoons, a mixing bowl and a wire whisk.
We had one of Lori’s favorite classmates, Madison, over for a play date and the girls had so much fun playing with it!

Today’s Lesson: Teaching is Lots of Fun!
October 5, 2011 at 03:00 | Posted in Family Time, Let's Play, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 1 CommentIt is already more than a month into the school year and we are in full-on school mode in our family. We get up, eat breakfast, pack lunch, get dressed and are off to school, but not necessarily in that order! I pick up Lori when school lets out and hear all about her exciting day, but school is still on her mind. At home, she pretends to be the teacher and tells her dolls (and little sister) to sit down for story time. She loves it and that is why I knew she would love Let’s Pretend School from ALEX.
Get Dressed with Success!
September 27, 2011 at 12:45 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Awards, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 2 CommentsLately my 4 year old, Lori, has insisted on picking out and putting on her outfits all by herself. Sometimes she actually puts together an outfit that matches and looks half-decent, and sometimes… not so much! As she has gotten older she has become more and more independent. She takes great pride in being able to do things, like getting dressed, completely on her own. But she is still learning and sometimes she gets very frustrated trying to zip up her hoodie or button her pants! It is not always easy for her to ask for help because she is SO determined to get it on her own, but I think I came up with the perfect solution… the ALEX Learn to Dress Kitty!

The bright colors, the insanely cute artwork, the endless activities… I knew that whichever kiddies were playing with this would be busy for quite some time!
We invited Julie’s super-cute friend, Aeden, over for a play date to try it out!

It’s a (Peg) Jungle Out There!
September 15, 2011 at 11:00 | Posted in Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 1 CommentI knew the ALEX Little Hands Peg & Layer Jungle would be a hit with Lori, because she really enjoys playing with the Peg Farm. Not only does the Peg & Layer Jungle have the stackable pegs, it also has tons of pieces that can be layered (as the name suggests) in-between the pegs and even on top on them! The jungle artwork is also adorable – love it!
As soon as she saw the box, Lori couldn’t wait to open it and get started!
And On That Farm There Was A Peg, E-I-E-I-O!
September 13, 2011 at 12:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | Leave a commentI remember having stacking pegs when I was little, but these toys from ALEX are SO much cuter! The ALEX Peg Farm pegs have adorable little animal faces on them and a sturdy farmyard base to build on.
