Gearing Up!
August 9, 2011 at 14:50 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 2 CommentsWho says building is just for boys?
I got Lori the ALEX Twist and Drill kit so she could learn about using a drill and a screwdriver to build things. Now I know a tool kit is not the most original gift for dad, but how cute would it be if Lori could use her new tools right next to her daddy using his new tools! Big and small tool kits for father and kid – now that is the perfect gift!
I Bag Your Pardon!
July 12, 2011 at 15:00 | Posted in Family Time, Kid's Arts & Crafts, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom | 2 CommentsWe LOVE doing crafts at our house. I am a crafter (for work and pleasure) and my daughters, Lori, age 4, and Julie, age 1.5, come running over to join in whenever I break out my supplies. That is probably why I’m obsessed with the ALEX Little Hands craft kits; they are all projects that Lori can do on her own, without creating a huge mess, and be proud of. We recently tried out the Paper Bag Puppets kit – check it out…
When she opened the box, we found 5 individually packed projects. Every paper bag comes with the corresponding stickers and punch-outs that are needed to craft them into adorable animals! The kit also includes colorful picture instructions and jumbo-sized glue stick. Lori was thrilled that the glue stick was bright pink and dried clear.
Review: My Layered Lacing

Katie over at Katies Nesting Spot reviewed quite a few ALEX Toys. Here’s an excerpt from her review on our Lacing Activities products:
This is an activity you can get years of fun out of. These are great for fine motor skills and getting those little fingers nimble and ready for writing.
I have to say I love the foam lacing shapes. I wish I’d purchased these for her before. I like them a lot better than the wooden or cardboard lacing shapes I was more familiar with.
The foam has a little give in it. As toddler hands push and pull on it, it can move a little and sometimes that has enabled my daughter to be able to get the lace through. The pliable nature of the foam makes this a more enjoyable activity for her and I’m not worried about things tearing as it snaps back into place. This product, and many others also by ALEX Toys has also won the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval.

Ask Nurit: Sharing is Caring

Dear Nurit,
I have two children 2 and 5. They usually play quite well together but as my youngest has grown in awareness she’s become somewhat grabby with communal toys. My 5 year-old is being as gracious as his age level allows him to be but I can tell he’s getting frustrated. How can I help my toddler learn to share?
Sharing is a developmental process that comes with time, patience, and guidance. Here are a few tips that will make learning to share less stressful for everyone.
