Get Dressed with Success!
September 27, 2011 at 12:45 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Awards, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 2 CommentsLately my 4 year old, Lori, has insisted on picking out and putting on her outfits all by herself. Sometimes she actually puts together an outfit that matches and looks half-decent, and sometimes… not so much! As she has gotten older she has become more and more independent. She takes great pride in being able to do things, like getting dressed, completely on her own. But she is still learning and sometimes she gets very frustrated trying to zip up her hoodie or button her pants! It is not always easy for her to ask for help because she is SO determined to get it on her own, but I think I came up with the perfect solution… the ALEX Learn to Dress Kitty!
Busy Bodies in Busy Town
September 22, 2011 at 09:00 | Posted in ALEX Jr., ALEX Toys, Babies, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 3 CommentsAs soon as I saw the ALEX Jr. My Busy Town activity center, I fell in love! The bright colors, the insanely cute artwork, the endless activities… I knew that whichever kiddies were playing with this would be busy for quite some time!
We invited Julie’s super-cute friend, Aeden, over for a play date to try it out!
Bathtime!
September 20, 2011 at 08:45 | Posted in Bathtime, Family Time, Mamma Mia Rea, Safety | 1 CommentI’ll tell you the truth: I can’t stand bathtime. It’s just not fun to kneel on bathroom tile, contort my back to get to those hard-to-reach places, and use my cat-like reflexes to prevent a series of potential injuries (my boys like to stand and jump in the bathtub – a genius idea, I know). However, I subject myself to it time after time so that my kids will be happy and, you know, clean.
Arrr Matey!!! It’s Talk Like a Pirate Day!
September 19, 2011 at 09:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Family Time, Holidays, Let's Play, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 1 CommentYo-ho-ho and a bottle of… apple juice! Ahoy there – did you know that September 19th is International Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day? I don’t know about you, but I love just about any excuse to dress up and act goofy with my kids. And that is just what we did!

It’s a (Peg) Jungle Out There!
September 15, 2011 at 11:00 | Posted in Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 1 CommentI knew the ALEX Little Hands Peg & Layer Jungle would be a hit with Lori, because she really enjoys playing with the Peg Farm. Not only does the Peg & Layer Jungle have the stackable pegs, it also has tons of pieces that can be layered (as the name suggests) in-between the pegs and even on top on them! The jungle artwork is also adorable – love it!
As soon as she saw the box, Lori couldn’t wait to open it and get started!
And On That Farm There Was A Peg, E-I-E-I-O!
September 13, 2011 at 12:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | Leave a commentI remember having stacking pegs when I was little, but these toys from ALEX are SO much cuter! The ALEX Peg Farm pegs have adorable little animal faces on them and a sturdy farmyard base to build on.

They Might Be Giant… Paper Flowers!
September 8, 2011 at 09:00 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Crafting, Play@Home Mom, Videos | Leave a commentMy Giant Paper Flowers is one of my all-time favorite ALEX products. It’s not just because it was one of the first products I helped create when I worked at ALEX, it’s because this one really has a wow factor. Take brightly colored tissue paper that’s been cut into whimsical petals, add pipe cleaners, fold and fluff. It’s truly spectacular!
I invited my sweet niece Alyssa (10 years old) over to make some flowers!
Fun in the Kitchen
September 7, 2011 at 09:30 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Family Time, Mamma Mia Rea, Recipes | 2 CommentsMy mother was an amazing cook – so amazing, in fact, that she held baking classes in our kitchen. I loved to watch her in action, whizzing from cabinet to tabletop, whipping up this, stirring in that, chatting away like the hostess of a cocktail party.
We All Scream For Making Our Own Ice Cream!
September 2, 2011 at 09:30 | Posted in Kid Concoctions, Play@Home Mom, Recipes | Leave a commentSince our last Kid Concoctions project was such a success, I have been looking forward to trying out and sharing another recipe from the “Weird, Wacky & Wild Stuff” book. Lori had a play date with her friend Malka on a nice summer day and I knew we just needed to try to make our own ice cream!
