There Is More Than One Way To Mow A Lawn
August 30, 2011 at 09:00 | Posted in Family Time, Outside Play, Play@Home Mom | Leave a commentIt was a beautiful summer day and I couldn’t t wait to pick Lori (4 years old) up from school to give her and Julie (18 months old) the ALEX Bubble Mower. I had a bubble mower when I was a kid and I remember it being one of my most favorite toys.
Right out of the box, the mower is simple and quick to assemble. Just snap together the handle, put in two batteries and you are ready to go. The mower comes with 2 bottles of bubbles, which is great because these girls were outside mowing the lawn for a better part of the afternoon!
Back to School, Already?
August 25, 2011 at 14:00 | Posted in Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 1 CommentBack to school gear is everywhere now. Is summer over already? Wow, that went fast! To get Lori back into the learning groove I picked up Ready, Set, School! from ALEX. This kit looks awesome! It is jam-packed with dozens of activities to sharpen her skills: ABC’s, 123′s, cutting, coloring, stencils, lacing, tying, stickers and more! She’s going to ace pre-K!
What a Fine Day for Croquet!
August 23, 2011 at 16:30 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Let's Play, Outside Play, Play@Home Mom | 1 CommentIt was beautiful outside today and we decided to take advantage and play some croquet! Now this wasn’t just any old game of croquet… it was adorable Jungle Croquet by ALEX! With kid-sized mallets, silly jungle critters and wooden construction, this croquet set is so much cuter than the set my grandparents have.
Drama Queens and Kings
August 22, 2011 at 15:30 | Posted in Mamma Mia Rea | Leave a commentThe other day I went to the Garden State Discovery Museum, a haven of please-touch activities for kids (and their exhausted parents!). In one of the museum’s many rooms was a gigantic stage with trunks full of costumes. I watched as children of all ages transformed themselves into knights, dragons and princesses and staged an impromptu fairytale in front of our eyes. I was particularly taken by the excitement with which the kids flung themselves through the curtains with an exuberant, “Introducing… AVA MARRRRTIINNNN!!!!”
Down on the Farm
August 19, 2011 at 10:19 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | Leave a commentAn interactive play mat? Well, this is something my kids have never even seen before. Come to think of it, neither have I!
ALEX’s Talk of the Farm is such a clever idea! This colorful and interactive play mat with a bright red musical truck was the perfect way to engage both of my girls (18 months and 3.5 years) and to get them playing together.
Princesses Need to Take Baths Too!
August 17, 2011 at 10:30 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Bathtime, Play@Home Mom, Reviews, Videos | 1 CommentI consider myself lucky that my girls love taking baths, but I know some kids (and maybe you do, too) that are less than fond of bath time. If I were a betting woman, I would wager that Princess In The Tub from ALEX would get them washing without a problem (at least for the girls!)
Gone Golfin’

Green Thumbs Up!
August 10, 2011 at 12:05 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Outside Play | Leave a commentWay back in May, we told you about the start of the ALEX Design team’s garden of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers. Things have really started to blossom and we wanted to share our garden’s growth with you!
Gearing Up!
August 9, 2011 at 14:50 | Posted in ALEX Toys, Little Hands, Play@Home Mom, Reviews | 2 CommentsWho says building is just for boys?
I got Lori the ALEX Twist and Drill kit so she could learn about using a drill and a screwdriver to build things. Now I know a tool kit is not the most original gift for dad, but how cute would it be if Lori could use her new tools right next to her daddy using his new tools! Big and small tool kits for father and kid – now that is the perfect gift!
A Date to the Movies
August 8, 2011 at 09:45 | Posted in ALEX News, ALEX Toys, Family Time, Mamma Mia Rea, Media | 1 CommentI, like many other children growing up in the 1980’s, was addicted to “The Smurfs”. What wasn’t to like about them? Cute, blue, enchanting little creatures, life in Smurf world was always perfect. Even their theme song was catchy; so catchy, in fact, it haunted you all the way through college.
